Pre-registration is required for all programs. If registering in person, you may pay by cash, check (payable to APEC), or credit card (Visa, M/C orex). If registering by phone, you must pay by credit card.

Waiting List:


If it appears that you will be closed out of a particular class, please put you name on a waiting list. Additional classes may be formed. You will be notified if that occurs.

Missed Classes:



No refunds or credits will be given for one-time programs. You may give your spot to another child if the child is the appropriate age for the program. Please phone APEC to let us know of the switch of names.

Age Requirement:


Your child must reach the required age for a program either before or during the month that he/she begins that program.

Young Discoverers Club - Candy Chromatography
Ages 8-12

Calling all scientists!! Put on your thinking caps and join us as we answer important environmental questions with fun and easy experiments. Learn about your environment through studies and tests, some can be done with simple household supplies. Snack included.

Penguin Party
Ages 3 - 5

Wintertime is a great time to appreciate how perfectly penguins are adapted to life in the snow. Stories, photos and actual penguin feathers are used to explore how these lovable birds survive and raise chicks in the freezing cold. We will meet live animals. A snack and craft are included.

Participants must be toilet trained.

Limited to 12 participants.

Tracking Winter Wildlife
Ages 8-12

Scat, tracks and other clues are left behind as animals travel through the park; join us as we walk the trails of Alley Pond Park looking for clues of winter wildlife. Students will make their very own animal track to take home at the end of the class. We will take a walk rain or shine, so be sure to dress appropriately (and be prepared to get dirty) and wear comfortable shoes. In case of severe weather, entire program will run indoors.

APEC Adventure Hour- Snowfest (parental participation)
Ages 18 mos. – 36 mos.

Please bring your little one and join us for a day of fun in the "snow". Even if there is no snow outside, we will have our own pretend snow inside. Make your own silly snowperson. This program includes games, songs, a snack, a craft, live animals and a nature walk (weather permitting). No non participating siblings except for infants in infant seats.

Animal Detectives
Ages 3 - 5

Whose footprints are those in the snow? Be an animal detective and discover how some of our resident animals survive the cold winter and learn how to identify them by different clues. Program includes a story, craft, detective game, nature walk (weather permitting), live animals and a snack. Participants must be toilet trained.

Soothing Natural Facials
Ages 7 - 12

Come and enjoy the skin rejuvenating benefits of nature! With tranquil music and lavender scented candles creating a relaxing atmosphere, children will combine natural products such as honey, cucumbers, crushed almonds & egg whites to cleanse and soften their skin.

Remember to wear comfortable clothes! A healthy snack will be provided. All materials included.

Zumba!

Grades 1-4 (parent participation encouraged but not mandatory)

Join licensed instructor Beth Lauren Levine for a simplified Zumba-style dance class that provides exercise with an emphasis on fun! In a non-competitive and no-judgmental atmosphere parents can find a way to get their kids active while having quality time together and by example sending a positive message about fitness. Dancing is so much fun and no one loses. If a child is inactive, this is a no-pressure and non-threatening way to begin a fitness plan. This class is for children, but is also appropriate for adults attending with their child.

TIME: 3:45 - 4:45 PM FEE: $10 per child/$15 per child with adult

The Snowy Day
Ages 3 - 5

Join us as we read Ezra Jack Keats classic "The Snowy Day". Children will delight in experiencing the joys of a snowy winter day. We will have "fake" snow inside if nature is not cooperative outside. Class includes story time, a snack, a craft and time with our animals. (We will take a walk if weather permits.)

Limited to 12 participants. Participants must be toilet trained.

During the first class they will practice their newly acquired skills, taking photographs during a nature walk on APEC's trails. During the second class the children will create frames to mount their favorite pictures.

Film developing and all materials included. Limited to 10 participants. Two session class, must register for both.
