Interns and Volunteers For ages 13 and up One of the important ways that APEC acoomplishes its mission of environmental awareness and responsibility is through its intern and volunteer programs. This program engages between 40 and 65 volunteers and 6 to 8 interns each year in community service to the center through assistance with animal care, outside work, educational programs and special events. In return, APEC provides guidance, training and supervision, as well as a sense of commitment and sensitivity to environmental issues. Our interns are selected from college and high school students who display self-motivation and maturity, as well as a willingness to take on both short and long-term goals. For more information and an application form, please contact the education department at (718) 229-4000.
